This blog is about the Missile Defense Agency or also known as the M.D.A. and all of the technology that they use to help protect us and soldiers in the war. This blog will talk about the new missile tests, technology that came out, missile defense systems, and more. This will also include new satellites and radars that they use to help keep us safe. This will also include some of the technology transfers they do at M.D.A. The picture to the left shows some of the things that I am going to be talking about in my blog. It shows the sea-based, ground-based missile systems, and the new laser system that they are developing to help our troops and the U.S.A. I will also talk about the recent events and test that they have done before the older ones that have already happened and also news of the tests that have been done, new technology in the planning stage, or what new technology was recently been finished and is in use. I will also put videos on the subject of what I'm talking about, if they have already have one or if they have a pod cast I will add that as well to it. I will mainly talk about the new laser system that they are testing for use here and in the war overseas. What it does, how they plan on making it light enough to carry, and how they plan on keeping it cooled down while still keeping it light, all of this is what I will tell you about this new laser system that is being tested. But the main point of this blog is to help educate you and others about what this part of the Federal Government does to help protect us and the soldiers that are overseas in the war from danger. As well as how the new technology will help our soldiers fight the insurgents, and to help the come home even quicker then they are now. So I hope you keep coming to this blog to find all about the news of what the M.D.A. is up to with the new technology that they are making, developing, testing, and using.

Laser Defense System
M.D.A. has made a new high powered, solid-state laser system that will be used to help soldiers and protection against missile attacks. This laser system can be used to neutralize motor rounds, missiles, and even land minds. M.D.A. is trying to make it light and easy to cool down quicker. They will be trying to outfit it to be put on heavy or even light vehicles that go into combat. A solid-state laser is a cleaner laser system than the chemical lasers that have been used before. But it is challenging to be able to cool the laser down and keep it light. It will soon be in the field and here to help protect us. This will also be adapted to be used in medicine, telecommunications, and microchip manufacturing. This will be employing special metallization process and microchannel etching techniques to make the diode pumps cool and are required to make the laser work. A diode pump is what makes the beam, and that is the part that is needed to be kept cool in order to work. The power of the laser is determined by how well it is cooled. How do they plan on keeping it cool and light? That is what I'm going to tell you in my next post.
